--UNI Kela gives Indian stars a taste of RazzieAfter receiving awards for their best performances, the B-town heroes are all set to receive the Annual Golden Kela Awards, the Indian avatar of Razzies, for their worst possible performances, Supriyo Hazra reports.
Indians have a strong love of drawing inspirations from their Western brothers and when it comes to entertainment this affinity becomes stronger.
Fom reality shows to films, Indian entertainment industry has always found a good scope in remaking and readapting their Western counterparts and then adding an Indian spice and curry to the entire concept, making it palatable enough for the sentimental Indian audience.
If West has 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' then India has 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' to counter it and if they can make their celebrities fight like cats in the house of 'Big Brother' then the popular faces of Indian can find a good platform for doing the same under the supervision of 'Bigg Boss'.
Moving forward from the world of reality shows and films, the Indian creators have also found it interesting enough to imitate the Western award ceremonies as well.
Keeping the tradition intact, the Indians have started their veryown 'desi' avatar of Razzies as they honor, rather dishonor, those stars from the glittering B-town gave their worst performances in the movies released in the previous year.
'The Golden Kela Award' is India's very own Razzies, who will award those brilliant artists whose performances made their fans feel bored and tired in the best possible ways.
In 2011, the third edition of this 'prestigious' award will be held at New Delhi on March 12 and the long list of nominees can make even the 'Filmfare award' organizers a pleasant surprise.
Cyrus Broacha, who will host the event said: "The Kelas are very important. Kelas were carefully selected as they are a symbol of energy. It is a fervent hope of the organisers to inject energy back into contemporary films."Naseeruddin eager to play a lech in 'Dirty Picture'
